Today I finished my painting of Margaret that I had started on Wednesday. I created this from the photographs that I took and painted an A1 portrait of her on her own. I did this because I had previously started one of her and George together but I didn't finish it as I didn't really like how it was turning out, and I thought it would be better to paint them separately.
I am pleased with how this painting turned out and I think that I got a pretty accurate likeness, this is also the oldest person I have ever painted and at first found the wrinkles difficult to paint as it was hard to get the paint the right colour to make them look realistic. However in the end the worked out well and I much prefer this painting to the one that I had started before.
I feel that the more that I paint the better I am getting at making it look like the person I am painting, and that I am getting more confident and developing my own painting style, if I have time I would like to use a different type of paint, maybe watercolour or oil, to try and create a different effect and experiment with some different painting and drawing techniques.
Acrylic on paper.
