Morning: Visual Studies
This morning I continued to do more on my painting, using acrylic paint, inspired by the work of Jonathan Yeo, who is a portrait painter that I really like, I have seen his work at an exhibition at the National Portrait gallery. I looked at his work for part of my last project before I changed my idea.
What I like about his work is the realistic nature of his painting (the way you can really see the emotion on the person's face) and the neat style he has with the paint.
Afternoon: Life drawing
In the afternoon I had life drawing, in which we explored Monoprinting, to create A5 studies. I think that these were quite effective, as you can see the shape of the body and I think that some of the marks I have created are interesting and I was quite surprized how they came out as I had not done much Monoprinting before.
I created my Monoprints on a variety of different papers, instead of just plain white to make them a little bit more interesting, I use graph paper, Magazine pages, brown paper and blue and purple paper. I feel that the graph paper looked the best as you could see the lines in the background and this added another layer to the image, but however it didn't absorb the ink as much as the blue or purple paper so the print was not as clear as some of the other prints I had done (on the other types of paper).
I think that I did use a little too much ink so all the images are not as clear as they could have been. So next time I will use less ink and blot the excess off with newspaper.
I also created some quick painted studies on the blue paper in black and white to contrast with my Monoprints.
