Today in life drawing I finished the two week painting I had started last week. I focused on just doing the portrait so that it would link directly to the rest of my work and to my project. I decided to do it A1 as we had two weeks to complete it and to use paint as I had used paint to create some of my other work for this project and that it would be quicker than using pen or pencil, and so I could get it completely finished.
I am happy with the way that it has turned out, even though it is slightly different to my other paintings as I have used looser brush strokes and it is not as neat, but I do think that I looks effective and is a good contrast to my other work. I really like the texture the bigger brush strokes have created and I was inspired by one of the artists, (Ian Cumberland) to let the paint run towards the bottom of the page, and I feel that it makes the painting a little bit more interesting/unusual.
